When visiting the UAE, do not skip and opportunity to visit Abu Dhabi. This is one of the main attractions of the region. Here’re things to do and see in the city.
Sheikh Zayed Mosque
This is undoubtedly the main attraction of Abu Dhabi. The Sheikh was the founder and the first president of the United Arab Emirates. He was the first one to come up with the idea of extracting and selling oil, which benefited the citizens of the country.
The mosque is amazing. 82 domes, 4 minarets of 107 m. high, that is, more than three nine-store buildings, the world’s largest handmade carpet, one of the world’s largest chandeliers, which is decorated with Swarowski crystals and covered with gold leaf are waiting for tourists there. Non-Muslims can enter this mosque.
Old Souk is the oldest Arab bazaar in the Emirates, which is located in the center of Abu Dhabi. Visitors can not only breathe in the atmosphere of the true East on the bazaar but also buy interesting souvenirs (from aromas and spices to national clothes and carpets). Prices are reasonable; bargaining is a must.
Zoo and feeding animals
Tourists are allowed to feed cubs from bottles. Also, visitors are offered to have breakfast at the same table with a giraffe, dine with a leopard, feed crocodiles, ride horses or camels, watch a fur seal show.
Coffee with golden crumbs at Le Cafe
Ask a waiter to bring you the Palace Cappucino at the cozy Le Cafe. You will be served a fragrant drink depicting the domes of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque on lush foam, and all this will be strewn with 999 gold crumbs. A glass of water, a traditional date, and a small piece of chocolate are also in the set to the coffee.
Perhaps, this is the most popular attraction in the UAE. Its fastest slide, Formula Rossa, is known worldwide. You will speed up to 240 km per hour in just 4.9 seconds, and if this is not enough, then, there are 20 more slides where you can get the desired degree of extreme.
Formula 1 track
If you are a true fan of extreme sports and Formula 1, a unique racing track with 21 corners and a straight track (1173 m. long) awaits you. Here, drivers can accelerate to a speed of 360 km per hour. On this track, the Formula 1 Grand Prix takes place several days a year, and the rest of the time it welcomes guests.
This is an ideal option for those who do not like snow but want to ride the board. The best dunes are located 150 km from Abu Dhabi in the Rub Al Khali Desert. The easiest way to get there is to buy a tour at a tourist office.
